Beck Center’s Dance Workshop and Dance Education program proudly present an encore production of a condensed version of Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet Sleeping Beauty April 27 through 29 in the Recital Hall of the Music-Armory Building at the Beck Center for the Arts.

This romantic fairy tale tells the story of the beautiful princess Aurora who is cursed at birth by the wicked fairy Carabosse to slumber for 100 years, beginning when she turns 16. Only true love and the kiss of a handsome prince can wake her. The ballet concludes with a wedding celebration visited by fairy tale characters.

Beck’s production, specially choreographed for children, includes a cast of 65 students including 12 male dancers. The two male lead dancers appear courtesy of the Cleveland School of the Arts. Princess Aurora will be danced by Julia Horner, age 17. Taylor Gerrasch, age 17, will dance the role of the wicked fairy Carabosse and Abby Schneider, age 16, is featured as the Lilac Fairy.

With original choreography by Marius Petipa, Beck Center's Sleeping Beauty includes additional choreography by Melanie Szucs, associate director of Dance Education and artistic director of the Dance Workshop at the Beck Center.

Tickets are $12 for adults/seniors and $10 for students/children 18 and under.
