Songwriting Workshop with Brent Kirby

Come join one of Cleveland’s most popular musicians for an afternoon songwriting workshop. Singer-songwriter and bandleader, Brent Kirby, well-known throughout Northeast Ohio’s Americana, roots music, folk and rock circles, will lead an interactive session focusing on creative writing, anatomy of a song, chord structure, and song mood/feel.

Jazz Rhythm Section Workshop
Date: Saturday, March 15th, 2014
Time: 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Instructors: Paul Samuels and Matthew Charboneau

Ideal for pianists, guitarists, bassists, and drummers. This workshop, led by well-known drummer, Paul Samuels and bassist Matthew Charboneau, will highlight many different rhythm section playing styles. Students will receive instruction and hear demonstrations of these styles, as well as have the opportunity to play side by side with the professional musicians.

Jazz and Creative Improvisation

Instructor: Chris Burge

Join one of Northeast Ohio’s most in-demand musicians, tenor saxophonist Chris Burge, as he leads this interactive workshop on jazz and creative music improvisation. Mr. Burge will explain his approach to improvising over many different styles and forms of music, including jazz, the Great American Songbook, blues, Bossa Nova, world music, pop/R&B, and more. Ideal for any instrumentalist wanting to learn more about how to solo and improvise, students will get to play side-by-side with area professional musicians during the workshop.
