Call to Artists: Artist Submissions for "Spontaneity Alive"


"Spontaneity Alive" Exhibition Dates: December 4, 2020 – February 28, 2021

Description: Living freely in expression, this exhibition of three Ohio-based artists celebrates the beauty of natural and spontaneous scenes. Dive into the world around us with fresh eyes and new perspectives, feeling the world in its full vibrant and wild nature. Experience movement, color, light, and everyday scenes with new purpose. A celebration and reminder of arts flourishing in troubling times, Beck Center’s Spontaneity Alive exhibition infuses hope and happiness into our surrounding community.

The Jean Bulicek Galleria at Beck Center is located in our Main Building, home to our Mackey Main Stage Theater, Studio Theater, and classrooms for visual art, dance, theater, and creative arts therapies educational programs. Located in the heart of the building, this space is the main thruway for all programs, events, and interactions occurring in Beck Center’s Main Building.

Submission Criteria: This exhibit is open to all Ohio artists who may submit work in any medium for the juror’s consideration. This exhibition encourages artists to submit works that adhere to our theme.

Submission Fee: There are no submission fees for this exhibition.

Submission Form: Please complete our entry form (https://forms.gle/No3VtoFGbg2tyFFo9) and provide all required information requested.

Selection Panel: Beck Center has assembled a Gallery Review Panel to review our 2020-2021 Gallery entries. Members of the panel include Beck Center staff and faculty, board, and Ohio community visual art representatives. Panelists will not be considered as entrants in an exhibition. Criteria will be based on execution quality, space availability, Beck’s mission and vision, and relevance to the guidelines and theme of this exhibit.

Important Dates: + Submission Deadline: Sunday, September 20 + Notification of inclusion/exclusion: Notification by email by end of day Friday, September 25. + Virtual Artist’s Reception: TBD, once artists are selected If selected. + Drop Off for Accepted Art: November 23-29, 2020. Exact time to be coordinated directly with the artist during Beck’s building hours. + Pick Up of Artwork: March 2-7, 2021. Exact time to be coordinated directly with the artist during Beck’s building hours.

Location: The Jean Bulicek Galleria, Beck Center for the Arts, 17801 Detroit Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107. This exhibition is presented in-person at Beck Center. Its online component will be a virtual artist’s reception, along with advertisement on the Beck Center website and social media.

Sales Requirements: Artists are subject to a 20% sales commission on all works sold in this exhibition.

Presentation of Accepted Artwork: All work MUST be properly framed or otherwise presented for hanging or display. Submitted items will be inspected at take in. If a work is not able to be hung or displayed in a presentable and professional manner in our exhibition space, it may be asked to be replaced or rejected.

Agreement: Artists that are selected to exhibit will need to sign an agreement to participate in this exhibition.
